2019, What’s Good?
Happy 1 Year of Shaytakesthecity.com! I still remember where I was when I decided to start my little personal passion project. I had such a desire to give you all an insight to my life. I aimed to provide insight to the good, the bad, and the Rosé moments of my life. Let’s take a moment to address the elephant in the blogosphere. I haven’t written a post since August 2018. Ahh, how dare I give you such dope content over 2018 and proceed to drop off the face of the blogosphere. I will allow you to start booing me, especially after my big comeback post in August, but let…

Rain Rain Go Away, Come Again on a Weekday
A few weeks ago, I enthusiastically wrote about Spring 2018 being cancelled. Oh boy, was I completely wrong. I fell for the lure of the outdoor patios and rooftops because they promised me memories of my favorite Summertime activities. As I sit here on a packed subway train with a soaking wet shoe and a gloomy sky, I realize that Spring is in full swing. The F it Stage in Life
A few months ago, I was invited to a friend’s brother’s 21st birthday celebration. Initially when I got the invite I was excited because this is a milestone birthday for most people. I would be able to have a glimpse of my early 20s. But that journey down memory lane made my excitement quickly disappear. I started to get flashbacks of my own 21st birthday. It felt like the ghost of 21st birthdays past. The one lesson I learned from that night is that 21st birthdays are unpredictable– and I do not think my knee can hold up. Let’s have a moment of realness. I am in my late 20s…

Spring 2018 is Cancelled
Unfortunately, I must be the first to say this, “Spring 2018 is officially cancelled.” As we come to the end of an eight month winter, I am bypassing Spring and going straight to Summer. I have packed all of my Winter clothes away and fully embraced my early Summer. I have accepted that I may deal with some cold nights and potentially catch a cold, but, you know, you only live once. As my intake of cocktails and Drake (by the way, Nice for What is my Summer jam) start to increase, so does the pressures of showcasing the perfect beach bawdy. I know they say Summer bodies…

Love at First Swipe
What can I say? It was love at first swipe…. To the right, that is. It may sound cliché but it’s so true when they say: the right person will come along when you least expect it. In my case, that person came along while I was fully embracing being single and enjoying the energy that summer brings to the city. I will say that the universe could have waited until the Fall started. I ended up missing out on the beach that entire summer but it was worth it. I met my now fiancé on a popular “dating” app that you might have heard of: Tinder. I know you…
