Say Yes to the Wedding Date

It has been officially 6 months since I got engaged, so much has happened but yet so little wedding planning.

When I first got engaged I was not prepared for the magnitude that is getting married and planning a wedding with my best friend. Six months later and I still feel like a meme of Phoebe, from Friends, in the wedding dress shop running around trying to figure out what to do.

Last week Friday marked the most critical part of the planning wedding process: we chose our wedding venue and wedding date.

Before selecting the venue we were asked a very tough question by a wedding coordinator, “what is your wedding vision?”.

What should have been a simple question turned into an hour deep dive into Google. I had to first figure out what the heck do you include in your wedding vision and what is our vision. I had a D’oh moment when I discovered my wedding coordinator was just asking us what vibes we want to give off at our wedding. Of course we mentioned our top things we must have: (1) Music, (2) Dancing, and (3) Good Food.

Now that we have our actual wedding date, everything has gotten so real. Weddings are a beautiful occasion but people never highlight the bridal stress that comes with getting married.

I was able to fight off the wedding related questions over the last six months because we did not have a date but now the wedding dam has broken. I am supposed to know my color scheme, wedding party, the list of guest, have already tried on dresses,

etc.

Even through all of the bridal stress I have been lucky to have a great partner, family, and a friend base that have served as a great sounding board.

Over the last six months I have gotten the confidence through many conversations to really do what makes us happy and not to focus on trying to please nearly 100 people. So when it came down to choosing our wedding venue we went for what we loved. We know everyone that loves us will follow suit and dance the night or afternoon away.

I will be the first to admit that I have no idea what I am doing but that is what makes this journey together so fun. You will get to see the behind the scenes look at planning a wedding and see the ups and downs of the process. Buckle in and get ready to join me on my journey from Miss to Mrs.

xoxo,

Shay
